Warmer At The Civic Center

Next years cold weather will effect those going to the Shelby Civic Center a lot less. The reason is a new front entry extension being added. When finished, it will match the present doors with glass and bronze doors.

Grass Fire Brings Out Spectators

There was no shortage of spectators as the whole town became covered with smoke today. Just as the sun started to set, flames covered the hillside at the intersection of Plum Street and Montana Avenue. The flames came within feet of homes on the top of the hill but this was not a random out of control fire. This fire was intentionally set by the fire department to rid the hill of old dry grass and brush. New green grass will grow back helping to prevent loss of property from a run away blaze.

One Way Traffic

It is one way traffic on east Main Street today as work crews dig up the north lane and add a new storm sewer line. This is all part of the work to rebuild Main Street. NBMC interviewed two State surveyors working on Main Street about one and a half years ago. In that interview, they told us that all the curb and gutter was to be replaced plus all the paving removed and replaced too.
