Christmas Craft Show

This otherwise slow snowy Saturday was punctuated by fun and laughter at the holiday Cristmas Country Store show and sale held at the Shelby High School Gymnasium. From 10 AM to 4 PM show goers were treated to a wide variety of crafts and artistry. Two that really stood out were Original Rope Baskets, plus, Eric Hash and his hand made flutes. Eric wowed the crowds by playing two flutes at the same time and demonstrating the haunting sounds of his two tuned crystal bowls. Eric recently moved 500 miles from just South of Pocatillo, Idaho to his new home at Pendroy, Montana. See the photos below for a small glimpse of his artistry and spirit. He can be reached through NBMC by writing us on our contact page. Connie Wearley is our second featured crafter. She, plus her husband, Gerald of Augusta, Montana create baskets of all sizes and uses from lariat rope. The resulting baskets are very very unique and durable, not to mention, beautiful and serviceable. See Connie and their baskets in the photos below. They may be reached at Box 160 in Augusta, Montana 59410. If you call NBMC at 406-434-7089 we can supply their phone and email.

Here is some of the "Best of October (The Second Half)"

Building Boom Continues
After a long "dry spell", this year has been anything but, when it comes to new and rehabed builing programs in Shelby. New buildings include Shelby Office and Glass, H and O Motor Co. and various new homes. Rehabed buildings include the Woldtvedt Building, the First State Bank, the Dash Inn and the old Stull's Jewelry building at 200 Main St. The Woldtvedt building on Main St. is to house a new attorneys' office and the Stull building gets Bootlegger Realty as one of its two new tenants. Besides these and more, there were buildings completely demolished such as the Commodore Hotel and Pizza Depot. Buildings undergoing great change are the old Middle School and Meadowlark school. The Middle School is to become a community center, plus, distance learning and later the core of a community college. The Meadowlark is to be converted into the latest location of the Shelby Volunteer Fire Hall.
